Hello, new year!

Veggies: In between the toffee and caramels and cookies and Chex mix, I have managed to eat a few veggies. New favorite salad = spinach, avocado, tomatoes, olives, Craisins and spiced pecans with a splash of balsamic vinegar.

Wine: My Discovering Wine class is over, but I haven't stopped. Favorites from the holiday season include Alamos Bonarda and Seifried Reisling.

I didn't expect to be blogging on New Year's Eve, but that's what happens when a cold robs you of your ability to talk to others for more than 10 seconds without sneezing. I don't even feel like drinking champagne--and I really believe that every day is a perfect occasion to drink champagne. Boo, cold. But I'm fortunate enough to be spending the evening with my slightly less sick love, DP ... we're going to watch some silly movies like Superbad and The Hangover, thanks to a friend who's dropping them off for us. Rusty and a tissue box will be nearby, too.

Before I settle onto the couch for the night, I'm taking a moment to reflect on what I'm most excited about doing in 2010 (besides kicking this flipping cold):

-Resolving to Evolve on the second day of the year with an inspiring yogini!
-Leading three beach-inspired yoga workshops to benefit Ocean Cure
-Eating more locally grown foods, from our family's second attempt at a community garden this summer and from Findlay Market
-Eating healthier, whole foods and learning how to successfully bake my own breads with inspiration from these newly found blogs.
-Spending a few days in Colorado with fantastic in-laws who will hopefully accept my interest in cross-country rather than downhill skiing
-Surfing, somehow and somewhere yet to be determined
-Running my first half marathon in May
-Serving as a cluster facilitator at a national session of LeaderShape (application is submitted and fingers are crossed)
-Celebrating anniversary number 11 with DP -- perhaps with an exciting travel component :)

I'm sure I'm missing a million things, but I'll continue to update/post throughout the year. Please drink a glass of champagne for me tonight, and have a fabulous start to 2010. Cheers!

  1. Happy New Year, Jen!
Sorry to hear that you had a cold... guess what, I came down with the flu too and was in bed on New Year's Eve and throughout that weekend.
I am excited about all your to-do's this year! Hey, I made my first attempt at the no-knead bread (featured in the NY Times and many other food blogs). It was super easy! I blogged about it too - check it out!
